NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 27 – Ulinzi Starlets will look to complete a hatrick of the FKF Women’s Cup title when they start their campaign in April against Technical University of Kenya (TUK) ravens.
The military girls have won the two inaugural titles of the Women’s Cup, last year beating Nakuru City Queens, while the previous year, they edged out Vihiga Queens in the final.
Ulinzi are currently placed third in the FKF Women’s Premier League, with 22 points off 11 matches, and trail league leaders Vihiga by three points.
They have been drawn into the preliminary round, which features 12 teams, while 10 more were lucky to avoid the tricky opening round and have been drawn straight into the round of 16.
Nakuru, who lost last year’s final to Ulinzi will also start their campaign in the preliminary round and will take on NYS Queens, while Kenya Police Queens (formerly Thika Queens), who have also had a brilliant campaign in the Premier League, do as well start in the first round against Embu Queens.
Record Women’s Premier League champions Vihiga have been fortunate to be drawn straight into the round of 16 and having been eliminated in the semis last year, hope for better as they start their campaign against Kisiwa Starlets.
