Sunday, April 7 saw first edition of Blankets & Wine this year, with a promising lineup of acts and good music to boot.
As per usual, CEO Muthoni Drummer Queen had curated the best perfomers’ bill with the who-is-who in music making the prestigious cut.
Vijana Barubaru, Wanavokali, Wurld, Eric Wainaina, Fena Gitu, Blinky Bill and Chris Kaiga all took to the stage, belting out their biggest hits for the mammoth audience that had flocked Laureate Gardens. If it was not Eric Wainaina’s classic hits taking the crown down memory lane, it was Fena Gitu’s rendition of ‘Kama Kawaida’ with guests Mayonde and Muthoni Drummer Queen, her collaborators on the smash.

While the weather fluctuated between sunny and cloudy for a bigger chunk of the afternoon, organizers had pulled all the stops to see to it that potential rain would not rain on the parade of revelers. A giant tent had been erected at the main audience area and true to the intended purpose, when the downpour began, the crowd was safe from damage and enjoyed the performances with no qualms.

Epic Kenyan cuisines, fashions and culture were in full display, as is characteristic of Blankets. Here’s more footage depicting Sunday’s epic event:
