Pop sensation Rihanna wowed guests at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding bash with her maiden performance in India.
The spectacular 40-minute performance was part of pre-wedding festivities for the son of Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s wealthiest individual. The extravagant event drew a constellation of celebrities and business tycoons to the quaint town of Jamnagar, Gujarat, in western India.
Rihanna graced the stage barefoot before an audience of approximately 1,200 guests, including luminaries like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Ivanka Trump, and Shah Rukh Khan.
Videos capturing Rihanna’s captivating Saturday night performance swiftly inundated social media platforms across India, with her decision to perform barefoot being lauded as a gesture of respect for local customs. A source within Rihanna’s team described the performance as a homage to her iconic Super Bowl show, with audience members at the forefront enthusiastically joining in the chorus.
Her electrifying performance comprised 19 of her chart-topping hits. Among the standout songs performed were ‘Diamonds’, ‘We Found Love’, Bitch Better Have My Money’, ‘Consideration,’ ‘Birthday Cake,’ ‘Pose,’ ‘Desperado,’ and ‘Woo’.
Broadcaster India Today reported that the Barbadian-born musician and women’s beauty entrepreneur had been offered up to $9 million (Ksh 1.3 Billion) to appear at the event.
Ambani, 66, is chairman of Reliance Industries — India’s biggest company by market capitalization — and the world’s 10th-richest person, according to the Forbes billionaires list, worth more than $116 billion.
Ambani held the most expensive wedding in India to date for his daughter in 2018, which reportedly cost $100 million and saw US pop megastar Beyonce perform.
The festivities, held four months ahead of the wedding between his youngest son, Anant Ambani, and his fiancée Radhika Merchant, will culminate on 12th July with the nuptials in Mumbai.
