Sauti Sol’s Bien has a deep message aimed at students of the newly-released KCSE results.
Heavy on the wheels of conversations around grades and their relevance (or lack thereof), the gifted crooner posted a freestyle on his Instagram singing up a storm and driving a much-needed message home.
He calls out errant teaching methods, stereotypes associated with grades and ostracisation of students who do not live up to societal expectations. Backed only by a guitar and sat on a counter, Bien sings: “I think it’s a mistake, calling me a disgrace…Teacher don’t call me useless, don’t you know my gift is priceless…don’t wanna be an A student, working for the B student, kwa company ya B student, kwa company ya C students, in the land of the D students..”
Just hours after the KCSE results were released, social media was rife with speculation of rapper Trio Mio’s performance, prompting responses from him and his mother. While some suspected a poor performance, others called crap on the obsession with the Sipangwingwi rapper’s grades.
