Baba Yao Khaligraph Jones might venture into the radio business

From a rapper hailing from Kayole, Khaligraph Jones could soon be a radio station owner.

The #PlayKeMusic fire is not dying down anytime soon and rapper Khaligraph Jones might have a solution up his sleeve, taking the #PlayKeMusic debate into his own hands.

The ‘Khali Cartel’ rapper might just have his own way to solve the debate of how much Kenyan music is played on Kenyan radio stations versus the Nigerian, South African and Tanzanian content. Khaligraph the O.G is starting his own radio station.

Papa Jones as he is popularly referred to, hinted on Instagram yesterday that he might be thinking or is venturing into the radio business by posting a vague yet exciting message “Radio station coming soon”.

The post prompted many fans to applaud him on the upcoming venture which would help in making sure that Kenyan music gets as much airplay as it deserves. Instagram user Weeddaz commented, “Yap yap Og we need that #Playkenyamusic”. Arisatheking added, “Strictly Kenyan music only izi ma Naiger za jalangoo tumwachie big up papa Jones”, while Levankenya said, “Hope you will name it OG radio station”.

If owning a radio station is on the horizon for Khaligraph Jones, this will not be the first time an artist has ventured into the radio station business. The legendary Maji Maji who is known for the of 2002  hit song”Unbwogable” alongside Gidi Gidi now enjoys a lucrative career as a radio presenter on Radio Jambo. Although it is unclear whether Khaligraph will leave music to run a radio station, it seems that the “Now You Know” artist is keen to change up the music industry for all stakeholders involved.
