NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 12 – Newly appointed Shabana FC head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo says avoiding relegation will be his biggest priority as he takes charge of the struggling FKF Premier League returnees following his appointment this week.

Omollo was introduced to the team for the first time on Friday morning and is expected to be in charge of his first match on Sunday, when Tore Bobe travel to Bungoma to take on Nzoia Sugar in a bottom fo the log duel.

The tactician eyes three points in Sudi, hoping they can pick maximum points to pull themselves off the drop zone.

“We play away and we will try as much as possible to get the three points. We want to push off the relegation zone and move up the standings. Things are bright so far. I have talked to the players and they are raring to go,” Omollo said, speaking after Friday morning’s session.

The experienced Omollo, whose immediate former station was with Kenya Police FC, arrives at Shabana with loads of experience having worked at Tusker FC, Gor Mahia and Posta Rangers and hopes his years on the job will help him steer Shabana to safety.

The side has faced a difficult spell since returning to the top flight after winning the National Super League last season, with only three wins in 17 matches.

They have picked 14 points so far and occupy the second of two automatic chop zones, one point above Nzoia who they face in Sudi on Sunday.

Omollo believes that the short period he has had with the team, with one more session expected on Sunday, can work in the short term, to help the team at least pick a positive result away from home.

Shabana have been without a head coach since the firing of Sammy Okoth in November following a spate of undesirable results.
