Avengers Endgame beats Captain Marvel to become the highest grossing film of 2019 thus far

Barely a week into its release and Avengers: Endgame has already surpassed the box-office collections of the Brie Larson-starrer Captain Marvel to become the highest-grossing film of 2019.

Captain Marvel, which is still in theatres, has so far made $1.11 billion at the worldwide box-office while Avengers: Endgame has now made $1.48 billion at the worldwide box-office so far.

At the domestic box-office in North America, Endgame has made $427 million, which is significantly more than Captain Marvel’s current domestic collection of $415 million, Times Now reported.

Ever since its release, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film has been breaking box-office records left, right and center. It had the biggest opening weekend collections at the box-office ever in North America, making $350 million in the first 3 days of its release. The previous best was Avengers: Infinity War which had made close to $250 million at the box-office on its opening weekend.

In its worldwide collections, Endgame became the fastest film in history to cross the $ 1 billion mark, in just three days of its release.

Endgame has now got into the top 10 highest grossing movies of all-time and only behind movies like Avatar, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Infinity War, Jurrasic World, Marvel’s The Avengers, Furious 7, Avengers: The Age of Ultron and Black Panther.

While trade analyst have predicted that Endgame will become either the second or third highest-grossing film of all-time for sure, but the debate is still going on if it can beat Avatar.

The James Cameron directed sci-fi film made over $2.7 billion at the box-office in its lifetime run, which no other Hollywood film, to this day, has even come close to, let alone beat. Will Avengers: Endgame have the legs to beat Avatar? Only time will tell.
