Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, has stepped down following a viral video that captured him in a compromising moment during a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts.
The footage, which quickly made the rounds online, showed the executive, identified as Byron, intimately interacting with Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer—who is not his spouse.
In a statement posted to LinkedIn on Saturday, Astronomer Inc. acknowledged the incident and emphasized the company’s values: “Leaders at Astronomer are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct and accountability. Recently, that expectation was not met.”
The incident occurred Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium, when a camera panned to the pair during the concert and displayed them on the venue’s jumbo screen. As the two embraced, Byron swiftly ducked out of frame while Cabot, appearing caught off guard, shielded her face and turned away. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, noticing the crowd’s reaction, commented mid-show: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Within hours, internet users pieced together their identities using social media, and the speculation was soon confirmed by the company. A spokesperson for Astronomer clarified that only Byron and Cabot—both senior executives—were involved. However, the company has not yet commented on Cabot’s current employment status.
