Grammy-winning musician Ashanti is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
More than 20 years into her remarkable recording career, The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced the Foolish singer will received the enviable honor. She will be bestowed with the star on Thursday April 7 at 7060 Hollywood Boulevard.
The hit-maker first hit the scene in 2002 as the First Lady of Murder Inc. with a record-breaking eponymous debut album that saw her make the history books with the highest sales for a female debut album with 504, 593 units sold on SoundScan, earning the now 41-year-old a spot in the Guinness World Book of Records that has hitherto yet to be broken. The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Ashanti has in the course of her career released an overall of six successful studio albums, won a Grammy, six Billboard Music Awards, two American Music Awards, two Soul Train Music Awards, six ASCAP awards among other illustrious honors.
“Ashanti is an award-winning singer, author, actress and executive producer. She has proven her talent in many different Hollywood industries and is an example for young girls who want to be in the ‘biz,” Stated Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer.
Ashanti’s unveiling of the Walk of Fame star will be presided over by actress Tichina Arnold and the singer’s frequent collaborator Ja Rule.
