Former Deputy President William Ruto has today (15.08.2022) been declared the President-elect by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chair, Wafula Chebukati after the August 9 general elections.
Following the announcement, social media has lit up with congratulatory messages to the 55-year-old politician. Kenyan and international celebrities have taken to various social media platforms to congratulate the newly-announced leader.
Senagalese-American hitmaker Akon congratulated the soon to be 5th Kenyan President saying, “Congratulations to my dear brother William Ruto as he is declared winner of the Presidential election in Kenya.”
Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz’ congratulatory message was to all Kenyans for electing the new President. He urged his Kenyan fans to keep the peace and to come together as one for the prosperity of the country.
“Pongezi sana wana Kenya kwa kuhitimisha zoezi la uchaguzi na kumpata Rais leo. Sasa hivi tena si team Ruto, Wajackoya ama Team Odinga, ni pamoja team Kenya,” he posted on his Insta-stories.
Other celebs who have come out to share their messages include, footballer Victor Wanyama, comedian Njugush, gospel singer Emmy Kosgei, mixmaster Dj Joe Mfalme, supermodel Ajuma Nasanyana, socialite Huddah Monroe among many others.
On the other hand, Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed led regional leaders in conveying their messages of goodwill.
