Tyrese Gibson, known for his roles in the Fast and Furious series and his R&B career, was arrested Monday morning in Georgia court over unpaid child support owed to his ex-wife, Samantha Lee.
Gibson, who shares a 5-year-old daughter, Soraya, with Lee, had been ordered to pay $10,000 (Ksh 1.2 million) monthly since April 2022 but failed to comply. Judge Kevin Farmer found him in contempt of court and offered him the option to avoid jail if he paid $73,000 (Ksh 9.4 million), which includes $7,500 (Ksh 965,000) for Lee’s legal fees.
Before his arrest, Gibson criticized the family court system in a now-deleted Instagram post, accusing the judge of bias and claiming that the system is unfair to fathers.
