Kenyan actor and content creator Martin Githinji, popularly known as Daddie Marto, has today (05.08.2025) released a lengthy statement addressing the turmoil surrounding his recent separation from long-time partner Christine “Koku” Lwanga.
The actor took to social media to share this statement and opened the statement with the acknowledgment that he has “lost [his] family as [he] knew it,” describing the emotional aftermath of their breakup and the intensifying public scrutiny that followed.
As reported by The Sauce, in June 2025, Koku made explosive allegations of domestic abuse, betrayal, and emotional neglect, revealing a painful unraveling behind the scenes. These revelations marked a sharp turn from their once admired partnership, thrusting their private crisis into national spotlight.
He said he had initially chosen silence to preserve peace, prioritizing his responsibilities as a father, former partner, and professional. But he explained that the continued escalation of accusations against him, including suggestions of violence, financial neglect, and manipulation pushed him to speak out, not just for his own peace of mind, but to leave a truthful record for his children and peers.
The actor laid out a detailed timeline of the separation from the mother of his three children, stating they began the process in December 2024 and formally ended their relationship by March 2025. By April, he had moved out, and in May, they mutually agreed on a joint public statement to be released at an appropriate time. He emphasized that this was no longer a relationship in any practical or emotional sense, calling it “a fact, not wishful thinking.”
Marto also addressed financial responsibilities, denying claims that he abandoned his duties. He stated that he continued to pay rent, school fees, medical expenses, and household bills even after moving out. He pointed to the period from July to November 2024, when he took time off work to help complete his partner’s mother’s house, a commitment he says still affects him financially. He noted that his partner began contributing financially in March 2025, and he later redirected her contributions to rent after moving out to manage two households.

A significant portion of the statement responded to an incident that had drawn widespread online attention where Koku had accused him of physically assaulting her, referred to as “the night in question.” Marto described being confronted at his residence, where a video call and a tense exchange escalated. He said he was physically injured and acted instinctively to protect himself and his friend. He also stated that parts of that night have been selectively posted online, omitting critical context. He affirmed that the matter is under police investigation and that he is cooperating fully.
In the wake of the accusations, Marto says he has been wrongly portrayed as violent and irresponsible. He rejected these claims unequivocally, saying that before the incident, there had never been a single act or threat of violence in their relationship.
The actor confirmed that he has initiated legal proceedings to address what he called ongoing attacks on his character, emphasizing the importance of allowing the courts to determine the truth.
