NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 20 – Absa Bank Kenya and the International Trade Centre (ITC) have introduced the Access to Finance Accelerator programme, a six-week initiative aimed at enhancing financial access for women entrepreneurs in export businesses.

Funded by the UK International Development program, the initiative will provide intensive training to equip participants with skills to develop bank-ready business plans and manage risks effectively.

“The programme is designed to provide entrepreneurs with tools, knowledge, and networks to navigate international trade complexities,” said Elizabeth Wasunna, Absa Bank Kenya Business Banking Director.

The programme will offer insights into SME financing, alternative funding options, and commercial banking, boosting participants’ financial literacy and preparedness. It also complements Absa’s focus on access to markets, mentorship, and sustainable finance.

British High Commission Attaché Rebecca Schneider emphasized supporting women in export to scale operations and leverage opportunities like the AfCFTA Agreement.

Partners include the African Guarantee Fund and DHL GoTrade Initiative, offering mentorship, strategic partnerships, and tailored financial solutions to empower women entrepreneurs in global markets.
