2 Robbery with Violence Suspects Arrested in Vihiga County After Two Months on the Run

NAIROBI, Kenya Nov 4 – After being on the run for two months, two suspects linked to a violent robbery in Vihiga County have been apprehended by dedicated detectives.

Philip Kitwa and Kennedy Arunga are now in custody following a forensic-led investigation conducted by Western Region crime researchers, according to police.

The incident occurred on August 30, 2023, at Askote Market in Vihiga County. The victim, a male truck driver, was attacked by the two suspects who emerged from a nearby maize plantation as he had stopped his vehicle to do some shopping at the market.

The attackers, armed with a machete and rungu, confronted the truck driver, inflicting life-threatening injuries. After brutally assaulting the victim, the suspects made off with his valuables, leaving him in a critical condition.

Fortunately, a good Samaritan came to the victim’s aid, rushing him to Equator Hospital in Luanda for prompt medical attention. After receiving treatment, the victim was discharged.

The tireless efforts of the Western Region crime researchers have paid off, leading to the arrest of Philip Kitwa and Kennedy Arunga in the Emuhaya area of Vihiga.

The suspects are currently in custody as they await their arraignment, which is scheduled for Monday.
