2 KRA officers reportedly missing after floods in Kwale

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 18 – Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) staff are reportedly missing after their vehicle was swept by floods at the Ramisi River in Kwale County yesterday.

They were travelling back to Mombasa from Lunga Lunga, where they are stationed.

“The Authority has already engaged family members of the two (2) officers and an intensive search and rescue operation by a Government multi-agency team is underway,” KRA Regional Coordinator for Southern Region Lawrence Siele said.

“KRA will continuously update the family members, its staff and the public on the progress and outcome of the rescue mission,” it added.

“The safety and well-being of KRA employees remains the Authority’s first priority and all machinery is being deployed for a positive outcome.”

Part of the coastal areas were rendered unpassable on Friday after heavy rains pounded the counties of Mombasa and Kwale.
