Xiaomi launches Redmi A5 in Kenya, targets entry-level market

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 21 – Xiaomi Kenya has introduced the Redmi A5, a budget smartphone packed with premium features aimed at redefining the entry-level mobile experience in the local market.

Priced at Sh9,499 for the 3GB+64GB variant and Sh11,099 for the 4GB+128GB model, the new device enters a competitive segment with a compelling value proposition.

The Redmi A5 features a 6.88-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and TÜV Rheinland-certified eye comfort modes.

It runs on the Android 15 Go Edition, powered by the octa-core UNISOC T7250 processor, and comes with a large 5,200mAh battery supporting 15W fast charging.

Targeting cost-conscious users seeking a full-feature smartphone, the device includes a 32MP dual AI rear camera, 8MP front camera, side fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and dual SIM 4G connectivity.
