NAIROBI, Kenya, August 21, 2026 – Kenya Police Bullets head coach Rama Vijago says their main objective is to secure qualification to this year’s Caf Women’s Champions League.
Vijago has his eyes set on the Cecafa Regional qualifiers in Rwanda, which would guarantee their place among the continent’s elite.
“This is the time (to qualify for the Caf Champions League). It is the only thing that we are missing. We have talked about it among ourselves and we want to go and come back with it (the ticket),” the former Kibera Soccer Queens head coach said.
The law enforcers have twice fallen short of playing at the prestigious competition, firing blanks when it mattered most at the qualifiers.
Their debut in the tournament in 2024 ended in a second-place finish after narrowly losing 1-0 to Ethiopia’s Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the final.
Last year’s run on home soil ended in the semis after falling to eventual champions Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa (JKT) of Tanzania by way of post-match penalties.
To get a whiff of the knockouts, Vijago’s charges will have to get the better of their Group C opponents, comprising Tanzanian giants Simba Queens, and Burundi’s Top Girls.
The gaffer is not treating the aforementioned lightly, noting that the Bullets will have to be switched for every minute of their campaign.
“It is a tough group…we respect both of our opponents and we are going to battle hard. God-willing we will come away with positive results from both matches,” Vijago said.
Ahead of their third shot at Caf Champions League qualification, the FKF Women’s Premier League champions have been on a shopping spree in the transfer market.
They have stocked their armoury with an embarrassment of artillery including Harambee Starlets goal machine Martha Amunyolet from Vihiga Queens, as well as Alice Mideri and Airin Madalina.
Also signing for the law enforcers are Trinity Starlets’ Eglay Mukhwana, Medina Abubakar, and Lorna Nyabuto — all of who are national team regulars.
Vijago has described the new arrivals as needle movers who will push them closer towards their objectives.
“They are quality and hard working players who will make a great impact once they gel with their new teammates. They came in a bit late and so we were not able to have as much sessions with them as we would have wanted but overall, they are great quality,” Vijago said.
Vihiga Queens remain the only Kenyan side to reach the Caf Champions League, in 2021, where they went on to lose all their matches in Cairo against Mamelodi Sundowns, AS FAR Club and Rivers Angels.
