NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 4 – Uhuru Park will host the first Red Bull Scramboo competition in Kenya on November 28, bringing together 105 riders on bikes they have designed and built themselves.
Red Bull said 35 teams have been selected for the competition and are currently building their bikes, costumes and opening skits ahead of the race.
Unlike conventional cycling races, Scramboo will combine racing with creativity.
Teams will take their homemade bikes through an obstacle-filled downhill course, with the aim of completing it in the fastest time while keeping their bikes intact.
A five-member judging panel will award points for the design of the bikes, opening skits, performances and costumes, alongside the race results.
“Red Bull Scramboo is ultimately a celebration of how Kenyans create, express themselves and have fun. It takes something familiar from our childhood — building up our bikes and showing off our riding style — and gives it an entirely new stage,” said Patrick Odong’o, a Red Bull athlete and Scramboo judge.
The event will start at 11am on Saturday, November 28, 2026, at Uhuru Park in Nairobi. Entry will cost Sh500, which can be redeemed for a Red Bull can at the entrance.
