Standard Chartered Bank Launches 7th Edition of SC Cup Futsal Tournament

NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 13 – Standard Chartered Bank has announced the launch of the 7th edition of its Standard Chartered Cup a 5-a-side futsal tournament that highlights the lender’s ongoing partnership with Liverpool FC.

According to the lender,this year’s tournament promises an opportunity for local corporate teams to compete for an exclusive all-expenses-paid trip to Anfield Stadium, where the winning team will watch Liverpool FC take on Arsenal FC in a thrilling Premier League match.

The event, which will take place on November 30,at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies grounds in Nairobi, will bring together 40 corporate teams, all vying for the prize.

Teams will battle it out in a competitive yet fun environment, with each squad consisting of seven amateur players (five on the field and two substitutes), all of whom must not have professional or semi-professional football experience within the past three years.

Joyce Kibe, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing for Kenya and Africa at Standard Chartered, expressed her excitement about the ongoing collaboration with Liverpool FC.

“This tournament is more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of our shared passion for football and a reflection of Standard Chartered’s strong global network.”

The tournament will feature a round-robin format in the group stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds.

The competition will culminate in a final match to crown the 2024 Standard Chartered Cup champions.

The Standard Chartered Cup is by invitation only, with participation open to corporate clients, SME banking entities, Liverpool FC fans, and media partners.
