NOV 30 – Schneider Electric has unveiled the Africa Explorer Programme, a cross-continent initiative aimed at developing early-career African professionals through international exposure, skills training, and leadership opportunities.
The programme, part of Schneider Electric’s Africa Talent Programme, offers high-potential young professionals 18–24-month placements in Schneider Electric offices across regions such as India, South America, and Europe.
Participants gain vital skills, expand their global networks, and prepare for leadership roles within the organisation upon returning to their home countries.
Currently, four candidates from South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria are completing assignments in Brazil and India. The initiative underscores Schneider Electric’s commitment to fostering talent and sustainable business growth across key African markets, including Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Commitment to Africa’s Growth
“The Africa Explorer Programme highlights our commitment to Africa as a critical growth market,” said Tanya Ramlagan, Vice President of HR, Anglophone Africa.
“Our success in addressing Africa’s energy and sustainability challenges depends on having the right skills and competencies within our workforce.”
Yewande Ayowole-Oso, Talent Leader for Anglophone Africa, added, “This programme is more than a talent exchange. It showcases the immense potential of African professionals while equipping them with global exposure and skills. Our goal is to cultivate future leaders who will drive innovation and sustainable growth on the continent.”
Selection and Programme Goals
The programme employs a rigorous selection process targeting candidates with strong leadership potential, high performance, and a commitment to growth.
The Africa Explorer Programme aims to build and retain skilled talent by providing internal and cross-border opportunities, enabling participants to gain global exposure and enhance organisational capabilities.
By combining geographic and lateral career moves, the initiative offers flexible career paths for emerging African professionals.
Additionally, it equips participants with the necessary skills and networks to prepare for future leadership roles, strengthening succession pipelines and fostering sustainable growth.
This initiative reflects Schneider Electric’s broader strategy to empower African talent and drive long-term sustainability across its markets.
