NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 3 – PUBG MOBILE has launched its Version 4.0 Update across Africa, introducing new game modes, performance upgrades, and region-specific content aimed at engaging players and empowering young creators.
The update’s key addition is the Wraithmoor Mansion, a Halloween-inspired mode featuring ghostly challenges and the Magic Broom. World of Wonder (WOW), the game’s creator platform, now includes advanced tools such as visual programming, vehicles, and items for user-built maps, while Classic Mode gains a new Mortar weapon and improved mechanics.
Version 4.0 also debuts UNFAIL, a new mode where players assume roles as Predators or Survivors, alongside a collaboration with Japanese manga series Kaiju No. 8. Seasonal events running through November include Metro Royale: Chapter 28, Crazy Chicken Day, and the Ghostie Keeper challenge.
PUBG MOBILE has simultaneously rolled out its Campus Ambassador Program in Kenya and Nigeria, enabling university students to organize tournaments, create content, and earn up to $500 monthly. Additional contests will allow winners to have their map designs featured in-game, tying gaming with entrepreneurship opportunities.
On the technical side, the update introduces “Super Smooth” graphics for select devices, boosting gameplay to 50–60fps while cutting lag by up to 50 percent and reducing device heating. Download speeds have also doubled on average, shortening match entry times.
In a first for the region, the game is offering Africa-exclusive in-game items, including a Zulu-inspired avatar, a Nigeria Independence Day avatar frame, a Kenyan bead gift based on Maasai artistry, and a South Africa Heritage Day spray.
PUBG MOBILE, among the world’s most played mobile titles, said the features reflect its strategy to tailor experiences to African markets while growing its player base through local engagement and cultural integration.
