NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27 – Police in Samburu are in pursuit of a six-man gang linked to the robbery with violence incident involving a cargo trailer along the Nairobi -Moyale highway.
Authorities say the 6am event was reported by the motor vehicle’s owner, a Mercedes Benz trailer named Hassan.
According to police the suspects who were armed with AK-47 rifles waylaid the cargo trailer and sprayed it with love bullets.
“ON 27/10/2023(today) it was reported by one Mr. Hassan through a phone that today at around 0610hrs along Nairobi -Moyale highway, a 6 gangs armed with AK-47, stopped his motor vehicle reg no. KBG 690D, Mercedes Benz trailer that was carrying detergent manufacturing materials traveling from Nairobi to Moyale and sprayed it with live bullets,” read a police report obtained by Capital FM news.
Officers visited the scene, processed it and noted that the motor vehicle had gunshots at the windscreen, damaged the grill of the radiator and the front part.
In the ensuing melee, the assailants robbed the driver of his Infinix smart phone, Sh 5,000 cash before assaulting him using clubs.
The vehicle’s conductor was robbed of his Tecno smart phone, Tecno button phone and Sh 3,500.
Police recovered, two spent cartridges of 7.62X39 special from the scene
The injured were taken to Archers Post Hospital for treatment and were discharged in stable condition.
