NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 25 – Paramount Bank has met the Central Bank of Kenya’s (CBK) minimum core capital requirement of Sh3 billion, becoming one of the early movers to comply ahead of the December 2025 deadline.
The bank’s core capital stood at Sh3.118 billion as of September 2025, boosted by a rights issue that raised Sh332 million from existing shareholders. The capital injection has been formally reported to CBK.
Meeting the capital threshold strengthens the lender’s capacity to expand its lending book, improve operational resilience, and support ongoing investments in digital banking and customer-focused products across retail, SME, and corporate banking.
Paramount Bank said the achievement signals renewed shareholder confidence and provides the institution with room to pursue growth opportunities within a regulatory environment pushing for stronger, better-capitalised banks.
The capital raise forms part of the lender’s broader strategy, which includes upgrading digital channels, scaling SME and trade finance, enhancing risk-management systems, and pursuing sustainable growth initiatives.
Paramount Bank says it will continue aligning its operations with ongoing sector reforms aimed at building a more stable and competitive banking industry.
