NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 5 – I&M Bank Kenya has confirmed Abdi Mohamed as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) following approval by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
Mohamed was announced as the bank’s incoming CEO about four months ago, pending regulatory approval.
“The Board is pleased to welcome Abdi to I&M Group and is confident that his extensive banking experience, strong leadership credentials and deep understanding of the Kenyan and regional financial services landscape will be instrumental in leading the Bank through its next phase of growth,” I&M Group Executive Director Sarit Raja Shah said.
Mohamed previously served as Absa Bank Kenya CEO and Managing Director.
Following his appointment, Kihara Maina, who had been serving as interim CEO of I&M Bank Kenya, will resume his role as Regional CEO of I&M Group.
Mohamed joins the lender after I&M Group posted a 20.3 percent increase in net profit to Sh9.31 billion for the half-year ended June 2026, driven by growth in interest and non-interest income.
