NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 16 – Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria have exuded confidence that the East Africa region is ready to produce the next chairperson of the African Union.
Mudavadi, who is also the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said South, Central and West Africa have had a share in serving at the helm at various times since 2002.
Mudavadi spoke at the sidelines of the ongoing AU’s Executive Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Kuria on his part expressed his support to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga following his interest to succeed Moussa Faki Mahamat as the African Union Commission chairperson.
As per the African Union, the AUC chairperson assumes the roles of chief executive officer, legal representative, and accounting officer of the union.
Securing the AU position requires the endorsement of member states.
