NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 18 – National Super League side Mathare United have added experience to their squad as they look to firm up a charge for a return to the FKF Premier League in the second leg.
The Slum Boys, who were relegated from the top flight at the end of last season have snapped seven new signings in the January transfer window.
Among the players they have signed include defender Stephen Okola and midfielder Mohamed Kilume from Sofapaka as well as bringing back striker Donald Ange from Kariobangi Sharks.
The three experienced players, with ready experience in the top flight, are expected to spur coach Leonard Odipo’s charges in their bid to return to the top flight.
Mathare are placed second in the Super League standings with 30 points, same as leaders Naivas FC, but with an inferior goal difference.
Other players joining the Slum Boys are Athman Ali, Boaz Maeri, Daniel Odhiambo, and Kevin Alloys.
Odhiambo, Maeri, and Alloys join from NSL rivals Kibera Black Stars, Nairobi United, and Gusii FC respectively. They all featured against the club earlier in the season for their respective former sides and impressed the coaching staff immensely.
Athman is a striker and has made the leap from regional side Kibwezi FC.
