NAIROBI, Kenya, June 22, 2026 – Boston Marathon champion Sharon Lokedi cruised to victory at the Boston 10k road race on Sunday evening.
Lokedi clocked 31:28 to cut the tape, ahead of Rachael Rudel who came second in 31:31.
Another Kenyan, Veronicah Loleo, took the final podium place after running 31:33 — in what was evidently a cutthroat race for the top spot.
For Lokedi, victory at Boston couldn’t have come at a better time, when she was in need of a lift after a disappointing outcome in her last competition — the New York Mini 10K road race.
On that occasion, the 32-year-old clocked 31:44 to finish seventh.
Back to Boston, it was a good day for Kenya as Patrick Kiprop shone brightest in the men’s division, clocking 27:55 to emerge top.
South Africa’s Adriaan Wildschutt (28:00) and Eritrea’s Dawit Seare (28:06) finished second and third respectively.
