NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 14 – Old Mutual Group recently hosted a comprehensive financial education program for Kenyan journalists, aimed at enhancing their understanding of financial literacy to improve public awareness.
The training follows findings from the Old Mutual Financial Services Monitor, which highlighted major financial challenges for Kenyans, including limited access to savings, investments, and insurance solutions.
The report revealed widespread gaps in financial knowledge, with low utilization of financial tools, inefficient debt management, and inadequate retirement planning. These issues leave many Kenyans financially vulnerable and threaten long-term security for families.
Old Mutual’s training empowered journalists to better report on financial issues, helping audiences make informed decisions.
“Media play a crucial role in democratizing financial education,” said Dr. Isaac Nzyoka, Group COO of Old Mutual East Africa.
“We aim to inspire positive financial changes across the country.”
This initiative is part of Old Mutual’s sustainability strategy to build financial resilience in communities across East Africa.
