Pioneer fashion house KikoRomeo delivered a landmark presentation for Kenyan fashion on October 1st, taking the runway at the Central Exhibition Hall Manege during Moscow Fashion Week. Facilitated by Nairobi Fashion Week, the showcase debuted the brand’s acclaimed Ewala collection to an international audience of editors, buyers, and industry leaders.
Under the creative direction of Ann and Iona McCreath, Ewala explores structure, drape, and material intelligence. The collection balances architectural tailoring with fluid, organic forms, incorporating rainfed organic cottons alongside handloom textiles and signature hand-carved coconut shell buttons and brass hardware. Moving away from fleeting trends, the lineup puts zero-waste garment construction and long-form craftsmanship at the center of modern Kenyan design.

“The Ewala collection is a direct reflection of Kenya’s evolving design identity,” said Ann McCreath, Founder of KikoRomeo. “Bringing this work to Moscow was about using fashion as a medium for true cultural exchange—sharing the deep storytelling, artistic intent, and handcraft heritage coming out of Nairobi today.”

The runway showcase represents part of a broader international movement spearheaded by Nairobi Fashion Week, aimed at opening new consumer markets, highlighting Kenyan material innovation, and reinforcing Kenya’s standing in the global fashion community.

“Kenyan fashion operates at an international standard,” said Brian Kihindas, Creative Director of Nairobi Fashion Week. “KikoRomeo’s reception at the Manege proves that our fashion industry isn’t just participating in the global conversation—it is actively shaping it.”
