NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 11 — Justices Anne Mwaure, Christine Ochieng, Francis Gikonyo and FIDA’s Christine Kungu have been appointed to the National Committee tasked to develop a framework for the implementation of the Alternative Justice Systems (AJS).
Chief Justice Martha Koome said the four would assume their roles from November 10.
The three justices will represent various divisions of the High Court while Kungu was picked as the representative of the Federation of Women Lawyers of Kenya (FIDA-Kenya).
AJS aims to provide substitute forms to dispute resolution mechanisms, including traditional approaches, as long as the mechanisms are do not offend written laws.
The four will remain in place until November 18, 2026.
