Infobip, Bayobab sign 5-year CPaaS deal to streamline SMS connectivity

MAR 18 – Infobip has signed a five-year partnership with Bayobab, an African digital connectivity provider, to enhance SMS connectivity across the continent.

The deal enables Bayobab to leverage Infobip’s Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) Customer Modules and Routing Management for campaign management, APIs, analytics, and secure message delivery.

Bayobab will also benefit from Infobip’s security solutions, including a state-of-the-art firewall, to protect mobile subscribers. This partnership aims to streamline SMS connectivity while reducing administrative costs.

Bayobab, a leading African connectivity and infrastructure provider, operates over 115,000 km of fiber cable and manages access to 24 subsea cables, with more than 70 Points of Presence (PoPs) across Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Previously, brands had to connect individually with each Mobile Network Operator (MNO) within the MTN Group to send SMS.

Infobip’s CPaaS platform now simplifies this process, allowing brands and aggregators to connect securely and terminate traffic to MTN and other operators with a single integration.

“This partnership simplifies how brands manage messaging in Africa by providing a single access point with high-quality service and necessary controls,” said Kedar Gupte, Chief Mobility Business Officer at Bayobab.

“It positions us to scale messaging services and meet the growing demand for chat apps and internet access in Africa.”

Matija Ražem, Chief Commercial Telecom Officer at Infobip, added, “Our collaboration optimizes Bayobab’s SMS connectivity and routing, supporting its expansion. Infobip has managed global SMS traffic since 2006, and our CPaaS enablement capabilities now serve MNOs worldwide with top-tier security and efficiency. This is a key step toward a hub approach for mobile operators to maximize messaging opportunities.”

Infobip’s CPaaS enablement modules—now available to all MNOs—include campaign and ID management, bulk messaging, usage reports, and advanced route management.

The solution integrates core telco network capabilities with RCS MaaP building blocks and Camara-compliant network APIs.

By partnering with telcos, Infobip aims to democratize the messaging ecosystem globally, helping telecom providers efficiently monetize CPaaS opportunities.
