NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 13 – ibis Styles Nairobi Westlands has been announced as the official hospitality partner for the AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2025, taking place from October 13–15 at the United Nations Complex in Gigiri.
The 10th edition of the flagship innovation event, hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), brings together leading startup founders, hub leaders, investors, corporates, policymakers, and development agencies from across Africa to celebrate creativity, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
According to ibis Styles Nairobi Westlands, the partnership reflects its commitment to supporting Africa’s innovation ecosystem while advancing environmentally responsible practices.
“At ibis Styles, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do,” the hotel said in a statement. “We’re proud to host and support a gathering that champions both innovation and sustainability.”
Championing Green Hospitality
The hotel operates The Green Room, a 100% solar-powered conference facility, as part of its broader sustainability initiatives. Other eco-friendly programs include the ‘1 Pencil, 1 Tree’ campaign — where recycled paper pencils contain seed capsules that guests can plant — and The Chinese Garden, which grows fresh herbs such as rosemary and thyme to promote a farm-to-fork dining philosophy.
In addition, the property runs a fully electric TukTuk for deliveries and guest transport within Westlands, further reducing its carbon footprint.
Driving Sustainable Innovation
The collaboration between ibis Styles Nairobi Westlands, AfriLabs, and UNDP seeks to strengthen partnerships that drive innovation and sustainable development across Africa.
The three-day event features panel discussions, exhibitions, and pitch competitions, spotlighting Africa’s most promising startups and tech solutions shaping the continent’s digital future.
