NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10, 2026 – HACO Industries has entered into a strategic partnership with Mr. Green Africa to strengthen post-consumer recyclate (PCR) collection and roll out a take-back scheme aligned with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) principles.
The collaboration aims to enhance recovery of plastic packaging waste from the market, enabling responsible recycling while reducing environmental leakage.
Mr. Green Africa will leverage its collection and recycling network to aggregate post-consumer plastics and reintegrate them into the manufacturing value chain, while supporting livelihoods within both informal and formal waste collection ecosystems.
HACO Managing Director Mary-Ann Musangi said the partnership reflects the growing importance of sustainability in corporate strategy.
“Sustainability is increasingly becoming a core business imperative, requiring practical partnerships that translate environmental responsibility into measurable outcomes.
By embedding EPR principles into our operations, we are reinforcing our commitment to responsible production, waste accountability, and long-term environmental resilience,” she said.
Mr. Green Africa noted that closer collaboration with manufacturers is key to scaling recycling infrastructure and driving systemic change in the plastics sector.
The partnership is expected to strengthen Kenya’s recycling ecosystem, improve traceability across the plastics value chain, and create economic opportunities for waste collectors and processors.
The move signals a broader shift within Kenya’s FMCG sector toward circular economy models, as companies increasingly adopt shared responsibility frameworks to address plastic pollution and meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets.
