NAIROBI, Kenya, August 23, 2026 – Muthaiga Golf Club held their nerve to claim a fifth straight Patron’s Cup crown on the final day of competition on home soil on Sunday evening.
The hosts topped the Trophy division with 125.5 points after three days of action, as VetLab Sports Club (83 points) and Railway Club (49.5 points) finished second and third respectively.
Having come into the ultimate day with 82 points, Muthaiga still had much to do, with more points up for grabs in the singles competition.
Among those who came up good for Muthaiga included Bo Ciera, Jay Sandhu, Kushil Nathwani, Daniel Kiragu who each won two of their singles match-ups to draw the team closer to glory.
In the Shield division, Sigona Golf Club earned promotion to the Trophy category after topping the standings with 122 points, 42 more than Thika Sports Club in second, and Nyali Golf and Country Club who came third with 56 points.
In the Plaque category, Royal Nairobi pulled off a masterclass of comebacks, recovering from their dour show in the first two days to eventually ascend the leaderboard with 96 points.
Golf Park, who had began the day as leaders with 56 points, slipped to second with a close 81.5 points as Kiambu sat third with 80 points.
Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club did just about enough to end the day as Bowl winners, amassing 111.5 points, ahead of Limuru Country Club (78 points) and Karen Country Club (32.5 points) in second and third respectively.
The same was the case in the Mug category where overnight leaders Ruiru Sports Club emerged victorious with 112.5 points.
Eldoret Club finished second with 79 points as Kericho Golf Club came third with 30.5 points.
The competition was held in memory of Kenya’s third president Mwai Kibaki, who was an avid golfer and a patron of the Kenya Golf Union.
