NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 21 – Former National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Director-General Francis Meja has been nominated by President William Ruto to serve as the next Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement, Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei said Meja’s nomination has been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting and approval.
“HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT has today nominated Mr. Francis Meja for appointment as the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission,” Koskei said.
Meja, who currently serves as a PSC Commissioner, joined the commission in January last year after leaving NTSA, where he was the founding Director-General.
His public service career also includes serving as a Council Member at Murang’a University of Technology and as Registrar of Motor Vehicles at the Ministry of Transport.
Beyond the public sector, Meja brings over 15 years’ experience in banking and financial services, having held senior management roles at Equity Bank Kenya PLC and the Housing Finance Company of Kenya (HFCK).
He is set to replace Ambassador Anthony Muchiri, who has chaired the PSC since 2021 and was recently appointed Kenya’s ambassador to Turkey.
