Eco Fashion Week Africa joins UN Fashion and Lifestyle Network

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 20 – Eco Fashion Week Africa (EFWA) has officially joined the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network, spotlighting Africa’s growing leadership in sustainable fashion.

The network, spearheaded by the UN Office for Partnerships and the Fashion Impact Fund, brings together global stakeholders advancing fashion aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

EFWA joins esteemed organizations such as Fashion Revolution, UNEP, Slow Factory, and Redress.

“Joining the UN Fashion and Lifestyle Network is a recognition of the work we’ve done and the direction we’re going,” said EFWA Co-Founder Belinda Atieno.

“We are not just showcasing fashion—we’re spotlighting African-led solutions to global challenges.”

Since its inception, EFWA has championed upcycled fashion rooted in cultural heritage and circular design. This year, African designers will once again take center stage, challenging fast fashion and highlighting traditional craftsmanship.

“African fashion has always been sustainable,” added Co-Founder Ruth Dolly. “What we’re doing now is making it visible, viable, and unforgettable.”

EFWA’s inclusion in the global network marks a major milestone for African fashion, reinforcing its vital role in shaping a more circular and inclusive global fashion industry.
