NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 7 -The Ministry of Labour has made strides in enhancing labour migration to create job opportunities for the youth in the country.
This following a productive meeting held between Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Bore and Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope.
The meeting was held at the sidelines of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland.
“The focus of the Government is to boost Labour migration to ensure job opportunities are created for our Kenyan youth,”said Bore.
The partnership aims to address migration challenges, promote sustainable development, and connect Kenya with labour-demanding countries, avoiding exploitation.
“The meeting considered how Kenya and IOM,can ensure that migration contributes to sustainable development and the well-being of all Kenyans and how best through the networks of IOM, can Kenya connect to countries in need of Labour as a catalyst for development,”emphasized CS Bore.
CS Bore who was accompanied by Principal Secretary State Department for Labour and Skills Development Shadrack Mwadime expressed gratitude for IOM’s steadfast support in advancing Kenya’s agenda.
“We centered on how best our partnership can address the evolving challenges and opportunities in migration governance,”she said.
