BEIJING, Jan 13 – On Friday, a coal mine accident in Pingdingshan, Central China’s Henan province resulted in ten deaths and six people still missing as of 3 pm Saturday, according to the official WeChat account of the local government.
The account also said that the coal and gas outburst accident occurred in the Pingdingshan Tian’an Coal Mining at around 3 pm on Friday.
There were 425 people in the mine at the time of the incident, it said. Except for the 16 people who have died or are missing, all others have been moved to a safe place.
Main leaders of the provincial government were on-site for the rescue. People in charge of the mine were detained by police.
