NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 14 – The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has issued a warning to the public about malicious actors spreading false information regarding changes in the banking system.

In an official statement, CBK assured Kenyans that the banking sector remains stable, resilient, and adequately capitalized, urging customers to continue transacting as usual.

CBK emphasized that it has not released any statement regarding changes to the banking sector’s operations.

The public is advised to disregard any unofficial information, as these false claims are aimed at creating unnecessary panic, potentially destabilizing the market.

The bank warned that spreading such misinformation violates the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act and could lead to criminal prosecution.

CBK advised the public to verify information by checking official announcements on its website and social media platforms.
