Britam, ICPAK partner to offer insurance cover to 40,000 accountants

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 17 – More than 40,000 accountants in Kenya are set to access tailored insurance products following a partnership between Britam General Insurance and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

The agreement will give ICPAK members access to medical, professional indemnity, motor and home insurance, addressing both personal and professional risks facing accounting practitioners.

The partnership reflects a growing trend in Kenya’s insurance industry, where insurers are working with professional associations to expand insurance uptake through products tailored to specific occupations.

Britam General Insurance Chief Executive Officer James Mbithi said the collaboration is designed to protect accountants against emerging risks while supporting their professional work.

“Accounting professionals play a vital role in strengthening businesses, safeguarding financial integrity and supporting Kenya’s economic growth,” he said.

“The solutions provided through this partnership will not only protect their health and assets but also safeguard their professional practice against emerging risks.”

ICPAK Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to the Council Grace Kamau said the partnership expands the range of benefits available to the institute’s members.

“This partnership with Britam ensures that they have access to quality insurance solutions tailored to their needs, further enhancing the value we offer as a professional body,” Kamau said.

Professional indemnity insurance will be among the key products offered under the arrangement, alongside medical, motor and home insurance, providing accountants with protection against liabilities arising from their professional practice.

The partnership comes as insurers increasingly develop occupation-specific products and expand distribution through institutional partnerships to reach more customers.
