Nairobi, Kenya – Dec – Boniface Makori has been crowned the winner of Procera Gin’s first-ever bartender competition, held at the Procera Distillery in Nairobi.
Competing against 35 top mixologists, Makori’s victory earned him a coveted spot at the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail competition in New Orleans in July 2025, an international event showcasing the best in mixology innovation, education, and networking.
The competition, organized in partnership with Bartales East Africa, aims to empower Kenyan mixologists and elevate their talents to the global stage.
Participants were tasked with creating cocktails that highlighted Procera Gin’s distinctive flavors, crafted from premium African ingredients and a meticulous artisanal distillation process.
Makori’s winning cocktail, which blended local botanicals with innovative techniques, impressed the judges with its originality, balance, and presentation.
“This victory is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the potential of African ingredients and creativity in mixology. I am honored to represent Kenya and Procera Gin on the global stage,” said Makori.
The judging panel, comprising renowned mixologists and industry experts, praised Makori’s technical skill and inventive approach.
“Boniface’s cocktail stood out for its complexity and elegance,” said one judge. “His passion for the craft was evident in every sip.”
Procera Gin CEO Guy Brennan lauded the competition’s success and Makori’s accomplishment.
