NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 18 – The APA Apollo Foundation has donated 250 pairs of shoes for lower-level primary school pupils to two teachers at Cheleta Primary School.
Ann Kiarie, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) teacher, and Virginia Rutere, a Grade 1 Teacher received the shoes from Joyce Muiruri, Brand Manager, APA Apollo Group.
The shoes are meant for children in PP1, PP2, and Grade 1.
According to APA, the shoes aim to improve school attendance which will ensure that children particularly those hailing from low-income families have access to education.
“Many pupils from low-income families struggle to attend school regularly due to the lack of proper footwear, making the often long and challenging walk to school difficult,” it stated.
“By providing these children with shoes, the Foundation is not only offering comfort and protection but also addressing one of the barriers to education, absenteeism caused by harsh conditions during the journey to school,” it added.
According to Muiruri, the project is in line with the Foundation’s mission to empower communities and promote education.
“This initiative aligns with the APA Apollo Foundation’s commitment to supporting education and empowering communities by ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, can attend school regularly, comfortably, and safely,” she stated.
