Following their release on Monday, Baktash Akasha and Vijaygiri Anandgiri Goswan will be required to report to the regional criminal investigation office three times a week/FILENAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 16 – A Mombasa Court on Monday released son of slain drug baron Ibrahim Akasha and an Indian on a Sh30 million surety bond each awaiting extradition to the United States where they will face charges of drug trafficking.
Following their release on Monday, Baktash Akasha and Vijaygiri Anandgiri Goswan will be required to report to the regional criminal investigation office three times a week.
The two were also ordered to deposit their travel documents with the police.
The court enhanced the terms after High Court Judge Martin Muyu considered an application by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions which challenged the release of Akasha, Goswan and two others.
Their bond was reviewed from Sh5 million to Sh30 million.
Two other suspects Ibrahim Akasha also Ibrahim Akasha’s son and Gulami Hussein, a Pakistan will remain in remand until the court reviews their sureties to make a determination on their application for a bond.
The four are wanted by the U.S on allegations of being part of an international drug trafficking cartel.
