NAIROBI, Kenya, June 10 – Free-to-air television channel Zee Dunia has entered Kenya’s top 10 most-watched TV stations less than a year after launch, highlighting growing demand for entertainment-focused content among Kenyan viewers.
According to the Ipsos Kenya Audience Tracker (IKAT) Q1 2026 survey, the channel recorded a 91 percent increase in average daily viewership between December 2025 and March 2026, growing from 95,664 viewers to 183,288 during the period.
The performance placed Zee Dunia among the country’s top 10 television stations out of more than 400 active channels. In Nairobi, the channel ranked third in viewership behind Citizen TV and NTV.
The survey also showed that viewer engagement strengthened during the quarter, with average viewing time increasing from 109 minutes per day in December to 152 minutes in March.
Ipsos identified the Zee network, comprising Zee Dunia and Zee World, as the fastest-growing television network in Kenya. Combined, the two channels ranked seventh nationally by weekly reach.
The channel’s growth was strongest among viewers aged between 15 and 34 years, particularly in Nairobi, Central Kenya, Upper Eastern and the Lake region. Women aged between 25 and 34 also formed a significant share of the audience.
Beyond television, Zee Dunia has expanded its digital footprint, with its YouTube channel reaching 183,000 subscribers by March 2026. The broadcaster’s combined social media following across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok surpassed 1.1 million.
Zee Dunia launched in Kenya in March 2025 as the first free-to-air channel introduced by Zee Entertainment Africa on the continent. The station is available nationally through PANG and Signet transmission platforms without a subscription fee.
Zee Entertainment Africa operates across 52 countries and reaches more than 176 million viewers daily. The company also runs Zee World, Zee TV and Zee Cinema in Kenya.
The latest audience figures underscore the increasing competition in Kenya’s television industry as broadcasters seek to attract younger audiences through locally relevant and entertainment-driven programming.
