NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 10 – Budget airline Skyward has introduced a new flight connecting Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Vipingo in Kilifi County via Diani, targeting leisure and lifestyle travellers heading to the Coast.
The airline will operate two weekly flights on Fridays and Sundays, with a one-way ticket priced at Sh13,260.
The inaugural service, set to begin this Friday, is aimed at offering faster and more convenient access for residents, business travellers and holidaymakers. The route provides direct connectivity to key North Coast destinations including Shanzu, Kilifi, Watamu and Malindi.
Skyward says the Vipingo Ridge airstrip offers a strategic alternative to traditional coastal entry points, allowing travellers to reach their destinations more quickly and comfortably.
The Airlines CEO Diana Nyambura said the new route reflects the airline’s focus on targeted network expansion and customer-led growth.
“This partnership goes beyond launching a new destination; it is about reshaping how travellers access the North Coast,” Nyambura said.
“Vipingo Ridge offers a uniquely positioned airstrip that allows us to serve both an exclusive residential community and the wider coastal ecosystem. Skyward Airlines, founded in 2013 by pilots Mohamed Abdi and Issack Somow, operates scheduled flights from Wilson Airport to destinations including Mombasa, Eldoret, Malindi and Lamu.
The airline has recently been expanding its route network to meet growing demand for domestic air travel.
