NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 18 – Food security, agribusiness financing, mechanisation and sustainable production will take centre stage as agriculture and manufacturing players converge in Nairobi this week for the 10th International Trade Expo AgroFood-Plastpack-Paper 2026.
The three-day expo, scheduled for August 20–22 at the Sarit Expo Centre, will bring together manufacturers, farmers, investors, policymakers, researchers and technology providers from more than 60 countries to explore opportunities and challenges facing East Africa’s agricultural and food value chains.
More than 200 exhibitors are expected to showcase technologies spanning agriculture, livestock, poultry, irrigation, food processing, packaging and plastics.
The expo comes as Kenya seeks to raise agricultural productivity, expand local processing and reduce losses between production and consumption.
Carol Khaemba, Honorary Secretary of the Kenya Veterinary Association (KVA), said animal health and food safety would form a key part of the programme.
“The Kenya Veterinary Association is proud to partner as a joint host of the 10th International Trade Expo Agro & Poultry Africa 2026, a platform that brings together key players across the livestock and agribusiness value chain,” she said.
Khaemba said the scientific programme would examine animal health, food safety, animal welfare, disease prevention and emerging technologies in livestock production.
“Our participation underscores the critical role veterinary professionals play in transforming agriculture and safeguarding public health,” she said.
Agribusiness financing will also feature on the agenda as businesses seek capital to acquire modern equipment, improve production systems and expand processing capacity.
Mechanisation and precision agriculture will form another key area, with exhibitors expected to demonstrate farm machinery, smart irrigation systems, agricultural drones and artificial intelligence-powered farm management tools.
The programme will also examine climate resilience and sustainable farming as producers face increasing pressure to improve efficiency while responding to changing weather patterns and environmental pressures.
Food processing and post-harvest management will feature prominently, with discussions expected to focus on technologies that can reduce losses while improving the quality and shelf life of agricultural products.
Packaging innovation will form another strand of the expo, with companies showcasing biodegradable packaging, recyclable materials, flexible packaging and other solutions aimed at supporting food processors and manufacturers.
Axan Rashid, event organiser at MXM Exhibitors, said the exhibition would provide businesses with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and develop commercial partnerships.
“The exhibition brings together key stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain to showcase emerging technologies, facilitate business partnerships and promote investment opportunities,” Rashid said.
The agenda will also cover export markets and investment opportunities, linking Kenyan and East African producers with international manufacturers and technology suppliers.
Organisers expect the expo to facilitate technology transfer and commercial partnerships, with its longer-term impact depending on the adoption of the showcased solutions by farmers, processors and manufacturers.
The event is jointly hosted by MXM Exhibitors, KVA and the Institute of Packaging Professionals Kenya.
