NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 18 – Motocycle manufacturer Kibo Africa has partnered with the Ministry of Environment and the Kenya Forest Service to plant over 100,000 trees in the next three years.
Kibo says it has already planted 10,000 seedlings at Kereita Forest as part of its commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices, which aligns with the government’s initiative to increase the country’s forest cover by 15 billion more trees by 2032.
“At Kibo, we have always been driven by innovation and a desire to create a better future, which is reflected in our manufacturing process, where we work to reduce our carbon footprint by sourcing a large component of our production materials locally rather than importing them, thereby reducing the carbon emissions associated with shipping,” said Kibosh Africa CEO Hoi van de Grijspaarde while officiating the event.
The tree planting exercise will be countrywide.
Trees are vital in mitigating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring a healthier environment for all.
Last year, President William Ruto launched a tree planting initiative targeting restoring 0.6 million hectares of degraded landscapes for improved biodiversity and climate change mitigation and adaptation.
