NAIROBI, Kenya Nov 1 – Kenya will use the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to push for reforms in the international financial system and equitable access to climate financing for developing countries.

Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’oei says the country will champion Africa’s interests in discussions on sustainable development, climate finance and international financial reforms.

Sing’oei, who has arrived in Antigua and Barbuda ahead of the November 1–4 summit, says Kenya’s participation will focus on securing partnerships that support its development priorities.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will lead the Kenyan delegation and represent President William Ruto at the meeting in St. John’s.

The government will also pursue opportunities to promote skills development, entrepreneurship and digital opportunities, particularly for young people and women.

Kenya is further expected to leverage business and investment engagements at the summit to promote projects across infrastructure, energy, tourism, technology and the blue economy.

The meeting, themed “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth,” brings together leaders from 56 member states representing approximately 2.7 billion people.
