KENHA urges motorists to be cautious after road submerges between Mtwapa and Kilifi
Several homes have been destroyed in with surging waters rendering sections of roads in cities and towns inaccessible/CFM/FILE

MOMBASA, Kenya, Nov 17 – The Kenya National Highways Authority has issued a traffic alert over the submerged road at Kwa Kadzengo area, between Mtwapa and Kilifi after metre deep waters were reported.

In its advisory, the authority stated that the flooding that was occassioned by the ongoing heavy rains across the country, that has rendred the road impassable.

It advised motorists to exercise restraint and caution, as they wait for the water levels to recede before traffic returns to normalcy.

It however assured that the new road which is currently under construction will be 1.5 metres higher than the existing one, with 4 1,200mm twin Culverts to be installed to balance water levels on both sides of the road.

Several homes in parts of Mombasa have been destroyed following flooding in the coastal city triggered by ongoing rains in the region.
