NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 14 – The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) has re-opened the Kaplong – Kisii road after the water levels subsided following heavy rainfall in the area.
According to the authority, heavy rainfall had rendered the Mugeni region, situated between Sotik and Chebilat, inaccessible forcing the highway’s closure.
In a statement on Sunday, KENHA said that the bridge has been assessed and there was no damage that was caused by the flooding.
“Motorists are urged to remain cautious and always follow the updates on the safety of our roads. Drive safely,“ is stated.
“Water levels have risen above the bridge rendering passage unsafe,” the authority warned.
As a result, KenHa staff have been on the ground monitoring the water levels the whole day.
